Grits Biscuit

I'm new to baking but been doing great so far (ahem!). I think that I just discover a talent =)

This is my Grits Biscuit Recipe (of course I searched the recipe from Google but then I wrote the actual thing I did because I had to substitute some ingredients and used aluminum foil as substitute to cookie sheet),

GRITS BISCUIT RECIPE

1/2 cup of Grits (I used the Quick cooking grits)
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 shortening
1/2 cup powdered milk dissolved into 2 cups warm water
1 package fast rising yeast
1/4 cup warm water
2 beaten eggs
4 cups of flour (I used Biscuit flour but regular all-purpose flour will be fine, if you use the regular kind, add 2 tsp. of salt)

1. In a medium size saucepan (or just any pan), put grits, sugar, milk, shortening and little dash of salt. Keep on stirring until it looks like a cooked cereal. Set aside.
2. If you have a mixer, set it to whip the beaten eggs and yeast that had been dissolve to 1/4 cup of warm water. Mix it until it is thoroughly whipped.
3. Mix number 1 and 2. Then add flour to form a dough. You can use the mixer for easy mixing or you can also hand mix it, just make sure it is kneaded well. Knead it in a lightly floured chopping board or flour board.
4. Place the kneaded dough in a covered bowl (or the mixing bowl itself, I cover it with the chopping board). Wait about 15 minutes or until the dough double it size from rising because of the yeast.
5. Put back the dough in a flat surface like chopping board or flour board to form a 1 inch flat dough. Use glass if you do not have cookie cutter to shape and cut dough into circles. Place it into a pizza pan or into a cookie sheet. I use a pizza pan covered with aluminum foil as you can see in the photo. Pre-heat the oven at 375 degrees and bake it for 15 minutes.
Serve hot with butter on top. Yum!
