Happy New Year not yet!

I've been wanting to make Filipino traditional "kakanins". There's a bag of coconut flakes in the pantry. There's plenty of long grain rice too. But to make kakanins it has to be glutinous rice (malagkit). So here goes my favorite thing to do...improvise.
I am proud of my improvise skills lately. Not bad. I made biscuits out of grits, substitute egg to cornstarch making patties, making whole milk out of powdered milk etc. No other grain can make palitaw but malagkit! Don't you try!
OH well like my epic pan de sal..ummm let's welcome my palitaw to the continuing Isay's kitchen epic :)
P.S. Lesson learned: Don't make palitaw in June.
